Kitchen Herb Gardens

I am looking at possibly buying an herb garden for the kitchen (looking at AeroGarden 360 or the iDOO) and was wondering if any FDB posters use one? If so, is it worth it for the fresh herbs? Do you have any recommendations on which one to go with, reading reviews the AeroGarden seems to be the least maintenance. Thanks for any feedback!

A couple years ago I purchased one for my wife to have fresh basil for her Caprese salads. I now have herbs in pots outside on the back porch.
In my experience, they are just not worth the trouble. Besides, herbs grown in dirt taste better.
In addition, you might get a better response on the Home & Garden board...
Here's a snapshot of my herbs, everything was trimmed back yesterday to promote root development.
2nd year Oregano
2nd year Mint
1st year Thyme transplants
1st year Parsley with 8th generation Cilantro. I threw these cilantro seeds out of my kitchen window 4 years ago and some ended up in this tub. They have gone to seed and grown back all four years.
I haven't planted my Basil or Chives yet.

I don’t have a garden for the kitchen but I have green onions and mint in a backyard pots. It’s nice and fresh but not within arms reach. The mint regrowths fast so there’s that.

Those things could never produce the amount of herbs I use. I could see them as a good solution during winter though.

Herbs are so easy to grow you can plant in the ground outside your back door with minimal bed prep or get pots and plant in those. Oregano, basil, mint, arugula and parsley are super easy to grow. Rosemary is easy too but its a shrub so needs some room.

Thanks for the input, I believe it will be an outdoor herb garden for me this spring/summer.

I've found that to be the best solution. Some herbs like sweet basil and rosemary can get huge. My sweet basil plants often get to 3+ ft. tall and about that big around and rosemary gets about 2 ft. tall
Stuff like oregano, thyme, sage, etc. don't get tall, but like to spread a bit.
Mint is the worst for overtaking a garden space and that is one I put in pots to contain it.
Parsley doesn't do well once the weather heats up.
Green onions do fine all year long.

An indoor garden wouldn't be enough of a supply for me. Mine are in raised beds outside. I use a ton of basil during the summer.
I had a great bed of healthy thyme for several years, but last year the oregano spread like mint and killed the thyme. I need to separate them this year. I don't use near the amount of fresh oregano as I do the thyme.

I'm just the opposite. I have oregano planted in 2 different places to make sure I have a good supply.

My wife just got an off-brand one in one of her subscription boxes, and I've got cilantro sprouts growing in it right now. I agree with the other posters that 1. It wont be big enough for my herb usage, and 2. I have a bunch of different herbs growing in containers outside.
