I'll be shipping a King Cake to relatives in Wisconsin.
Any suggestions on which bakery to use?
Gambino's
Randazzo's
Caluda's (had never heard of them, but their selection looks the best)

Haydel's. Its a great cake, but they also put a lot of additional stuff in the box such as mardi gras beads, dabloons, cup, and I think a mardi gras magazine.

Thanks.
I may send one of each and ask them which one was better.

Which one? There are 3 diffent King Cake makers with that name. I've had the one in Chalmette and was not overly impressed. Haydel's is my go to for shipping.

Manny Randazzos is the one you want from the various family operations.

I've had them shipped and thought their cake was pretty bad. Would rank them well under Dong Phuong, Manny Randazzo's, Randazzo's Camellia City, even Ambrosia Bakery in BR.

Wisconsin is known for their Kringles, which is basically the same concept as a King Cake, only a Kringle is a pastry and infinitely better. A Kringle is round, has filling and is iced just like a King Cake, but is a pastry, not a cake, and without that nasty granulated sugar sprinkled on it. After they try a King Cake, ask them which they like better (as I'm sure they've had a Kringle or two). Demand an O&H Kringle from Racine in return from your relatives.

I shipped a cinnamon Tiger stripe to central TX for the championship game. Everyone loved it! I had to get Friday delivery for the Monday game, but it was still moist after 3 days. Only bummer was FedEx smashed it a little. Thus, next time I will opt to ice it myself

Just got Haydel's in today and thought they were awful compared to the ones I picked up from Manny Randazzo's after National Champ game. My wife swears Haydel's used to be much better.
