Staying uptown Friday night for a big zoo visit for my 7 year old's birthday. We are right by the trolley route, and (pending good weather) would like to ride the trolley to somewhere for dinner. Would like good food obviously, but would mostly want somewhere that it would not be abnormal for my kids to run around a bit. My 5 and 7 year old like to "explore" new restaurants.

Suggestions Uptown but not on the trolley route are also welcome because we will be driving if the weather is poor.

So, a trashy restaurant?

Based on your OP just pick up some Popeyes and let your kids “explore” city park

Settle down people. I just mean my kids might move around a bit as opposed to staying seated the entire time with thier napkins on thier laps.

I don't mean somewhere specifically they could play. Pizza Domenica is a good example, whereas I wouldn't say Peche is. Somewhere really casual, I guess.

If Peche is busy, though, those kids can’t wonder around the tables. There’s not a lot of space.
