If they're getting in late, call Mandina's for the late reservation. I'd do that before Superior, though I haven't eaten at Superior. If you haven't been to Mandina's, then should all try it together. Look at the website. It's a solid local jernt. Has that old New Orleans neighborhood atmosphere. Lots of regulars in addition to out of towners.
Yeah, I don't think I'd try Casamento's at all today. Tomorrow would be a better option to go there, but still at "off" times. Either early or late.

I've been wanting to try out Katie's. what's your favorite entree?
Katie's is good with kids.
I have to get the Crawfish Beignet when I go. I like the ribs, and they have so much that I can't really say that I have had the same thing twice.
good for kids, though the youngest I brought was four.

the thing that sucks is that its lent friday, I can't eat half of the menu at these places and I'm not big on fried food. I'll make do though, really looking at Mandinas.

Well you can go to almost any seafood restaurant with kids as half the stuff will be fried.
Bucktown: New Orleans Food and Spirits, R&O's, Deanies.

Mandina's has a grilled shrimp and a grilled fish option, I believe, though I've never had either.

Make an exception for Casamento's. Not today, just at another time. They still go old school and fry with lard!!!

cowbell could be an option
they usually have a lent special, also several meat free dishes that are alreay on the menu. They have some shrimp quesedillas, grill cheese, fish tacos, salads, soups.
also have a kids menu if i recall
very laid back place, and tonight will prob be a nice night, you can even sit outside

Katie's will be at least an hour wait. We did superior seafood last Friday. Guy outside said it would be a 45 minute wait, we waited less than 5 minutes. Also free valet makes it convient

What could be better than watching your meal being cooked with lard by an in-law wearing a wife beater. Casamento's rocks.

Nothing I can think of. No deep fryers, just pots on the stove.

It's all part if the charm, along with the outdoor bathroom and the woman grilling oysters up against the bathroom wall. I go out there just to see the kitchen and her.
