My Dad's side of the family had a set of rules for ketchup. They have been carried down from generation to generation, going back at least to my great-grandfather.

They are simple:

Ketchup is used on:

All dishes containing hamburger
French Fries
Baked beans

Optional on eggs.

You cannot use ketchup on hotdogs unless there is chili on the hotdog.

That's it.

So now that that's settled...

Ketchup allowed on baked beans but not hot dogs?

That's a funny rule right there.

Do what you like, but I’ve never understood wanting to dramatically sweeten a savory dish. But, if that’s your jam, it would be less messy to just pour sugar on top.

Is there a word limit for posts in TD.com?

I don't follow my father's rules, btw. But my father and my uncle take them somewhat seriously.

Wtf is this? That seems backwards, like it should be you can only use ketchup if there is no chili. I'll do the ketchup/mustard/relish combo, but if there is chili then it's mustard only. I don't know that I've seen anyone use ketchup with chili

If someone told me there were rules on what I could put ketchup on I would put ketchup on their face.
