It would be nice to get a boudin option on this side of the river, but getting more options in the city is nice

Their store in Scott hasn't been open very long. They must be making money hand over fist to open so close to that store.

great location on Johnson St with lots of parking and a drive thru. That is definitely gonna put a serious hurt on Bourque’s business especially if Kartchners opens at 6:30am.
That Schlotzskys was gonna be a coffee house but the deal fell through.

Is there a Bourque's in Lafayette?
I'm wondering how it will affect Hebert's in Maurice.

It’s the 4% extra they charge to your total when you use a credit card

Yes, less than a half of a mile away on Johnston street.

I haven't noticed that. I'll have to look next time we get a haul from Krotz Springs.

Thanks. It sounds familiar now. I probably forgot since I've not been there.

Bourques opened just before the pandemic, Fall of 2019. Located across the street from Sticks Pool Hall and the DMV Express.... Their boudin is good and consistent; however, they don't offer a smoked boudin. The dine in area has two 4-tops and very little meat market items to choose from. Most everything is brought in from the Port Barre location. Kartchners will have a huge retail specialty meat market along with their smoked boudin and cracklins. IMO, Bourques is definitely getting nervous.
Heberts only sells 1 item I buy - the deboned stuffed chickens. Since they have a few satellite locations scattered throughout Laffy, there is no need to travel to Maurice anymore. One of the younger Hebert grandsons or nephews opened Cajun Market Meats in Youngsville by the Sports Complex and is doing very well right now. Open 7 days a week from 6am to 7pm as they have boudin, crackiln, plate lunches, BBQ, LOTS of cooler space with tons of specialty meat and food items and dine-in seating

I haven't been to Hebert's Maurice location in several years, but we buy from the Baton Rouge and Praireville locations often. Their stuffed chickens are far superior than any others I've tried.
I also like to buy their dressing mix, meat and crawfish pies, seafood gumbo (which is mostly shrimp), sausage stuffed pork chops (though I've had others that are also good), among a few other things here and there.
I agree that Bourque's should be concerned about this opening.

Do they have a specialty?

Probably the smoked boudin. Others may have more info.

Plenty of space in Katy for a Kartchners.

Does Bourque's still make that jalapeno sausage cheese bread? If so, they don't have a goddamn thing to worry about.

Rumor mill has it that Hebert’s just bought property in Jennings near the interstate with intent to open a location there.

People go crazy over that bread. People except for me. I think it's okay, but I'm not making a special stop for it unless I was buying it for someone who wanted it.
