Just found a long lost favorite dish (kung pao chicken) prepared a certain way

Even though I was born in posh Mayfair, London and resettled to Old Metairie as a toddler, my family's go-to Chinese restaurant in New Orleans somehow wound up being a little spot in a strip mall down at the lake end of Wiliams Blvd called "Fortune Gardens". It shared real estate with a free standing Pizza Hut if I recall.
Anyhow the reason I bring it up is that randomly I found the absolute carbon copy of my very favourite dish from Fortune Gardens in a very similar strip mall in Portland.
The Kung Pao chicken is identical, and oh how I missed it! They use the chewy thigh meat and basically the only four substantive ingredients are chicken thigh, peanuts, spring onions, and hot peppers. The taste is almost identical - I order it "sugar free" and then add a little Braggs soy sauce at home. It's so fricking good.
It's basically all I've eaten these last three days. Kung Pao chicken. A little keto yogurt and strawberries. I've been in heaven.
Anyone else have an experience like this with a dish they thought was long gone?

Fortune Garden was always so good growing up! And their kung pao was delicious.

Mate if you're ever in Portland check out "China Rim" restaurant and get the Kung pao. Unfortunately their cashew shrimp isn't as good as FG was.
Was it "Fortune Garden" with no "s"? I actually had that debate with my sister last night as I told her about the "chewy chicken".

Fast Track was a hamburger franchise popular around south Louisiana during the 80’s and early 90’s. However, when the founder died, his kids did not want to continue the business, and the franchise disappeared practically overnight. They had a unique method of prepping their burgers (pre-cooking batches of patties and then storing them in Worcestershire sauce before final grilling them to order) as well as for their seasoned fries which competed well with popeyes.
Many years after the Great Purge, I discovered that one location actually survived hidden inside of a somewhat remote gas station. I went to try it, and it was exactly the same. The fries were perfect, the burger had that signature flavor, and it was still cheap as hell. It was like reuniting with a long lost friend.

There was a chinese place at north gate about 10 years ago that had the most amazing kung pao. It was the freshest asian food i've ever eaten. I remember they had clear coolers with all their fresh veggies. Really miss that place

That's it! I couldn't remember the name. A surprisingly awesome place given the bland name and odd location. Still the best kung pao I've ever eaten.
