Alcohol has to be at least 6% markup. 8.99 is not at least 6% markup on Jucifer. That’s how it’s illegal.

And I prefer typing and using a computer for TD. So I do it when I can.

I didn't see 6% just that you can't sell at a loss. Weird. Loss leading isn't illegal in Texas and our liquor laws are stupid.

quote:

§ 422. Sales at less than cost unlawful
A. Any advertising, offer to sell, or sale of any merchandise, either by retailers or wholesalers, at less than cost as defined by this Sub-part plus any state, county or municipal sales tax that is then payable under any existing law or ordinance, with the intent or effect of inducing the purchase of other merchandise or of unfairly diverting trade from a competitor or impairing fair competition and thus injuring public welfare, is unfair competition and contrary to and violative of public policy as expressed in this Sub-part, where theresult of such advertising, offer or sale is to tend to deceive any purchaser or prospective purchaser, or to substantially lessen competition, or to unreasonably restrain trade, or to tend to create monopoly in any line of commerce.

I just went through the State of Louisiana: The Alcohol and Tobacco Control Law. This was admittedly from 2015. The 6% markup is only noted for tobacco products. No such markup is noted for alcohol.

I did too. The only thing I found that says 6% pertaining to alcohol pertains to displays and prohibiting competing salesmen from moving each other's products. And is referring to beverages above 6% ABV

Nothing is my deal... just trying to help you out... I’m serious when I say people I’ve talked to have said they won’t shop at calandros anymore because of crap you’ve posted on social media and TD. I’d assume it hasn’t hurt the bottom line yet, but at some point it will.

So that's at least two fictional statements made in this thread

Either way, $11.99 is way beyond a 6% markup on $9 or less. But I’m fine with a store running whatever markup it wants if the product will sell, clearly Calandro’s customers will pay over market price for the availability

He was talking about the store selling it at 8.99. Anyone know the wholesale cost?

I know he said the $8.99 wasn’t making money, and we know it’s selling at $9.99 at many places, so the wholesale is somewhere between. Even at $9.99, the 6% markup is only $0.60, so the $11.99 at calandros is way over

So if that's true, it's likely illegal, but not for the reason he gave.

Sounds like there’s a bunch of guys on here should get together and open a liquor store and mark everything up 6%. Do the public a service.

Isn't this the beer that turns brown in the can before randomly exploding all over your refrigerator?

I don't understand why anyone would be so cranky over a POS beer like that regardless of price.
