I have a pack of these. Normally, I just throw them on the grill and then grill peppers and onions to go with them. Is there a better method for this? Pretty sure my buddy from Wisconsin boils them in beer and then grills em……

TIA

We cooked up some of the cheddar ones yesterday.

Basically, placed them in an aluminum pan, covered them with beer, then cooked in the pan on the grill (covered with foil) until they were cooked through and had time to soak up the beer flavor.

They were then placed directly on the grill to get that sear on the casing.

I’ll simmer them in beer and onions before grilling, sometime. But straight to the grill is fine, too.

This is what I’ve heard before. Did some searching today and I’ve seen two methods: grill then soak and soak them grill. Guess I can’t lose!

man that sounds great, I never know what to do with the cheddar ones, but I’m used to cooking Italian sausage with coke, so this is right up my alley.

Poke holes in them with a. Fork and boil with beer and onions. Then grill them.

That’s a new one for me. I’ve done hams with coke glaze or maybe even bbq with coke, but not a fatty sausage with Italian herbs. Sounds odd.

Threw these on today ahead of my Boston butt. Boiled on the grill in a shallow pan prior to the butt. Added a lite lager and onion. Boiled for 20 mins then grilled direct for 2 mins a side to brown. Will add this to my bbq routine. Thanks.

Do y’all use just raw, yellow onions to combine with the beer? Cut any particular way?
