I second or third Blue Tomato and right down Central Ave. toward Airline Hwy. is Central Po-Boy and their food is legit too. Fair prices for a good amount of food in both places.

there are a startling amount of good restaurants in Jefferson.
that said every time I’ve had reason to be at Ochsner I make it a point to eat at the blue tomato

Two of my favorites in the general vicinity of Jefferson Highway are Oak Oven in Harahan and Gendusa's in Kenner.

I like Bienvenue on Hickory Ave. Their Bang Bang shrimp wrap is fantastic. They got the best fried onion rings with Tiger sauce. Save room for dessert...their chocolate peanut butter pie is awesome.
