How many of yall use Iverstines as your primary source for meat?

Got a huge order from them a week ago and everything I have had from them is awesome.

I've had their whole chicken, pork tenderloin, pork tomahawks and their flying Hawaiian sausage.

I'll take back my comment after your edit.

I assume that is the owner. Clearly from my username, not me.

I roasted a whole chicken from there tonight. Great bird. Buy a sack of chicken feet for about five bucks and make a chicken stock.

Flying Hawaiian and Nacho Libre sausage is great. I like their steaks, I don't think it's head and shoulders better than other options in BR.

How do the prices there compare to Rouses/local grocery stores? Drive by regularly but have yet to stop in, but have been meaning to check it out.

What other options in BR that are comparable? I guess I just feel like his product is better than most grocery stores (here in texas that includes HEB and Kroger).

It's more expensive, but tastes way better and fresher.

I got some thick cut pork chops from them last week and they were incredible. I dry brined them and roasted in the oven with new potatoes.

Will buy again.

I find their chicken and pork to be very good. Their steaks are just not my thing but that’s due to them being grass fed and grass finished. The strong beefy taste isn’t something I like in a steak. Their sausage is also very good.

A few misses on their products have been their bacon and a few other items. This is mostly due to the lack of fat on their animals so things run a little leaner than preferred.

Still, a great local butcher that I love to support!

Just about everything from there is great with the pork chops being my favorite. I rarely go these days because i dont live nearby anymore. Only thing ive had from there i didnt care for was the hot dog, the texture wasnt right, they were too dense.

I like grass fed roasts better than the steaks but I will eat a grass fed steak. I find you have to get them cut thicker and can’t go past medium rare as they get tough quick. Just like any sirloin or New York Strip.

I split a grass fed cow a few months ago and didn’t tell them to cut the steaks thick and they just don’t cook right. So now I’ve had pot roast ribeyes lately.

I do like the flavor of the grass fed though but as Americans we are used to corn fed or at least corn finished and it’s a much different taste.

I've never been there, but I notice the website says they make stocks and broths. Anyone tried those?

I will second that. I bought them once and that was enough for me. Didn't have the snap of a good hot dog. Such is life.

I also spent $70 on a turkey and I roasted it beautifully and it tasted...like turkey.

I'll agree with that. I've purchased a few chuck roasts from IF and they've always come out great.

I've purchased their chicken stock once and received their beef stock when I did a monthly meat crate with them.

For the price, like $10 for 4 cups, you're better off making your own at home. I didn't care for the taste either.

I’ll preach it again, buy a five dollar sack of chicken feet from there, add a few vegetables and a couple gallons of water and make a gallon and a half of gelatin stock for well...five bucks and the vegetables. Bring to boil, lower to slow simmer for 3-5 hours, lower, longer the better. Cook it down even more and it will concentrate to almost a chicken demi glacé.

Wow, chicken feet aspic. Looks delicious!

I think I would add some wings and backs in there as well to round the flavors out.
