I've cooked plenty of jambalayas in my 4 gallon pot but none big enough to feed 80+ people. Would a 10 gal pot be big enough? Also are there any differences cooking on a much larger pot besides ingredients?

TIA

10 gallon wont be big enough. 15-20 would be sufficient

If you look on the calculator it tells you exactly how big of a pot he needs.

Just get my cell number from your pops and text me. I'll walk you through it. A ten gallon pot should do the trick. I figure eight people per gallon with sides.

Congrats on your new engagement.

10 gallon pot

10lbs chicken
10lbs sausage
10lbs pork

5lbs onion
5lbs mix celery and bell pepper
Garlic to taste

10lbs rice.

Will make exactly 10 gallons Feeds about 120 servings. 80 camp servings

Don't have to ask me, just download it:

But he's in good hands with PocheJP's guidance.

Yeah, they'd be fairly small servings that way.

Rule of thumb, always cook for the upper end of an estimated crowd then add 25% for seconds...so I'd say prepare for 125 servings which will put you in the 15 to 20 gallon range. 15 filled to 90% capacity would be perfect

I dont really need large servings. There will be plenty of sides and other food there too. So I think I should be alright.

With small portions(1.5 cups), you're going to be at roughly 90 servings...this is at 90% capacity, assuming zero waste(burnt layer at the bottom) and somebody standing there dishing out the servings and being extremely precise and also not allowing seconds.
