probably the best meal in Lafayette I've had since Jane's.
Janes is about the most overrated restaurant in the state
Service was nothing special. Food is unique and good but not worth ~$200 a head

Most people in Lafayette are true but homemade bon vivants and can cook their own great food and serve their own great wine and liquor and save the pretentious costly restaurants.

Went to Jane's back a year after it opened and while I appreciated what it was, it just wasn't worth the money to me. I can see how people like it and its a great date spot but none of the dishes I came away saying wow that was awesome. Haven't been back since.
Vestal on the other hand has phenominal food. It's very pricey obviously but you are getting extremely high end dishes.

I think Ruth’s Chris is more expensive than vestal.
My bill always comes out higher over there than it does at vestal.
Maybe the stuff I like at vestal is cheaper then the stuff I like at Ruth’s Chris but always seem to pay at least $50’more on average for 2 people at RC
And to answer the OP question .
Went a few weeks ago it was packed
Don’t think it’s going anywhere any time soon.
The thing I don’t like about vestal is it’s too loud inside .
The ceiling is like a dome and it traps all the noise And they have much more customers per square foot then RC
I think I like the food slightly more at vestal but the atmosphere at RC makes up for it

It's packed every time that I go.

I'm the exact opposite. I can't stand the atmosphere at Ruth's. Vestal is definitely a lively atmosphere, but I enjoy that. I wouldn't say it's a "romantic" spot for a date, but it's probably my favorite atmosphere in Lafayette.

quote:Lol, I’ve been one more time since the original post, and it was an awful experience. Reservations at 8pm. Didn’t get our entree until 10:20. We were a party of 4. Not that many people inside, yet took 2 hours to get our meal. Never been back.

Same, most times when we go and make reservations we purposely sit at the counter facing the kitchen, or the bar, it's a fun kitchen to watch operate and people watch.
