Is New Orleans nearing it's saturation point with restaurants?

I'm starting to think the city is almost to that point. If you think about how many new places have opened in the last two years, it is mind blowing.
As you all know, I'm a huge pro N.O. guy and love what is going on in the city. It is really going through a growth period like we have not seen in a very long time. Lots of young professionals coming to town and apartment and condo building is just rolling.
It just seems like too much to support. The restaurant seats that the Hyatt just added is a big number. Tons of new places seem to be opening. The John Folse restaurant with his celeb buddy is going to be alot of new seats too.

It does seem like it. How many people move here for the medical complex stuff? And more importantly how many live in the city? Also, the tourism numbers are going to be absurd for the next few years.

Med complex is scaring me now, with the news that the biodistrict commission is broke.

I agree with glass. It seems like it has to be getting close. I think the problem is keeping so many higher priced places open. While they may be casual, none of them are cheap or an especially good deal. If they can hurry up on the hospital and get it done, that will be huge. Hate to say it but they have to get a handle on crime. Whether you want to say it really isn't that bad or not, it is a pr problem. We need to get a larger area of safer neighborhoods so that people will move and stay.

Fund it. This is the best thing that could ever happen to the city. Add a 2.00 hotel tax. I hate taxes, but this merits something like that.

At the same time, a lot of the new ones are doing good. The places that aren't good will eventually close down.
I know NOLA has over 1,300 restaurants now, which is like 250 more than before Katrina.
I still think we will continue to see new places, as new ideas come out, and older places shut down.

They have to fund it. University hospital is a joke. It has worked for now but in 2012 it is almost inexcusable in a major city.

I welcome that type of thinking. Zach, when are you going to buy an awesome house within walking distance of Finn's?

I actually looked at a place not that long ago, it needed a lot of work. They wanted too much money for what it was. The only cool thing was that it had a bomb shelter built into the ground under the house.
It was a block off of Canal on Iberville, by the funeral home.
If I lived in Mid City I would spend more time there than Norm spent at Cheer's

Without question. We will see what Mitch does. This really is the chance for the city. The only thing bigger for the city is the Covention Center. And that already exsists.
