Is Commander's the best option for a Chef Table?

Thinking about booking it when my wife finishes grad school, was just wondering if Commander's is my best option in New Orleans? Thanks for any opinions on the matter

It’s a damn fine meal and experience, but you have to book several months in advance.

Ponchos has the best chef table. RIP ponchos.

I haven’t done Commanders, but it’s on my bucket list. I believe you have to have more than two people.
I’ve enjoyed Emeril’s several times.

I did it and it was phenomenal!!! I highly recommend it. You are seated in the kitchen right where the action is. You go through numerous courses of well put together food and wine pairings. The evening is topped off with a dessert course that includes practically every dessert that Commanders makes. It is impossible to eat all of them or leave the place hungry! I don't know who the sous chef is right now so I'm not sure who will cook for you, but our chef was Luke Hidalgo. He is no longer there, moving on to his own place across the lake. He was very engaging. I think you will enjoy it immensely. This was about 4 years ago and I think it was almost $600 a person with wine but I may be mistaken. I also think you have to have a minimum of 4 people to book, which must be done several months in advance to get the date you want.

Not nearly this much. I'm thinking more like $600 or $700 a couple unless you have a super premium wine pairing of some kind.
I agree with all else that you noted. It's amazing and I doubt any other table like it exist in the city or is nearly as good.

You're probably right. Maybe that was my total bill for me and my spouse.....I really don't remember. The experience was so good I blocked out the price??

We went 7 years ago and at the time it was 100$ a person plus the cost of drinks. You need at least 4 ppl back then. It was a great time. About 9 courses iirc and the chef works with you on what you like and dislike. They do indeed bring out all the desserts at the end. Eat the ones that cannot be taken home and bag the cheesecake types. Now I want to do it again after reading this thread.

Yes. The Chef's Table at Commander's is the best. I have done it twice in recent years. An incredible dining experience.

It seats 4 and you have to pay for 4 mom's After of its just the 2 of you. You're looking at around 1200 with a nice wine pairing. You should also check out R'evolution. They have an amazing chefs table experience.

She isn't graduating until next December so hopefully that is enough time.

Probably just do August and tasting menu...get a regular table. No need for so much interaction.

Man, I don't know. Being in that kitchen and having a dedicated chef and server was pretty damn cool. We weren't in the middle of the action and it was a pretty calm experience and quieter that I expected.

We did it 2 years ago. Tom Robey was our chef and it was fantastic food. Tom even took us on a tour of wine room etc. food was great and the desert bomb was very memorable. It’s for no more than 4 or less than four.
