We really like ours.

Didn't read the review though. Sorry.

I love mine, but you have to understand that it's got its role and it isn't magic. If I want pot roast or a braised pulled pork sandwich on Wednesday night after I get home from work, I'm pulling out the Instant Pot. If I want pot roast or smoked pulled pork on Saturday or Sunday when I have time to cook low and slow, the Instant Pot is relegated to rice or vegetable steaming duty, if it gets used at all.

The insta-pot competitors should have thought of the automated pressure cooker idea sooner. No doubt there are some models from new manufacturers that are better. But I bought my insta-pot a few years ago when it was the only player and it works well for me.

Saute works well, high pressure works well, rice works well, steaming works well.

That's enough for me.

Don't need to slow cook in something that is meant for high pressure cooking.

I'd think most people that are going to purchase that might already have a crock pot.

the Instant Pot was never the only choice in electric pressure cookers. They were out about a decade before Instant Pot. I owned one about 7 or 8 years before I ever heard of Instant Pot.

Which brand? Granted I was being a little flippant. Marketing had a great deal to do with inst-pots success.

The name and promotion definitely made the Instant Pot a success.

We bought 2 of them off of QVC a long time ago. I think the brand was Cook's Essentials. They were just like Instant Pot - 7 functions in 1 device. One was a gift and the other broke it's plastic lid when I dropped it.

ETA:

After some research, I found that, believe it or not, the first digital pressure cookers came out in the 90s.

The Instant Pot is all that great. You’re wrong, Col. Sanders.

I disagree. Use mine all the time. Love it. Used slow cooker function once and didn't care for it but I have a crockpot for that if I want to slow cook which is rare.

If I'm slow cooking I am going to braise in the LC. The instant pot that I have is the smaller 3qt one which works great for rice cooker/steaming but way too small for the high pressure cooked meals. The instant pot is pretty cool, but it doesn't do everything perfectly so technically it's not all that
