Wife and I are doing a date night tonight, kids are gone with the in laws, thinking Impastato's, never been there, worth it? Or other suggestions for a date night spot

I know people who love this place, though I am not one. I find it mediocre, but I'm not a fan of red-sauce Italian-American food.

Overrated, it's gone down in the prior years

I'd pass. It's not bad, but it's also a place you can bring the kids and enjoy it about the same. Think about places that you will enjoy more without kids. Commanders, Mr. Johns, Coquette, Domenica, La Petite, etc. I don't know about same day reservations for any of these. Lola's is good for this reason, good food, no reservations, and a cheap corkage fee. We had a date night this past weekend and really enjoyed Latitude 29.

If you are staying in Metairie Vincent's is good but so is Andrea's. Very underrated with their fish, they do a great job.

I'd opt for Marcello's over Vincent's or Andrea's, if you gotta stay in Metairie. Marcello's menu: LINK

What about Vega Tapas or Chateau du Lac on Metry Road?

Man a whole lot of Impastato hate on here today. We went about a month ago and it was on point. You can't beat the sauteed crab claws or any of the veal dishes. Their wood fired steak has always been solid. I would go to Impastatos over both Andreas and Vincents. The Five course dinner is the way to go. That's the most bang for the buck.

I like Marcello but they focus on too many pasta dishes.

Ristorante de Filippo off Causeway and West Napolean in Metry is really good. Great date spot too. Lots of food.
