Definitely go burr style grinder over a blade style.
I got the $50ish one from Bed Bath Beyond, Cuisineart. Simple to use, has a slide switch to set how many cups of coffee you plan to brew and press start. about 30 seconds for a 8 cup brew.
Yes, you can absolutely taste the difference in fresh ground beans.

World market has some decent beans, once a month they have 2-1 specials. My favorite is Hawaiian kona beans. Less acidity, but buttery.

Loving a fully washed Ethopian I got locally yesterday. Incredible flavor.

$12 for a decent bag of coffee is fair.

“Fresh Ground Coffee” on Amazon has good quality Colombian roast. $18 for a 2.2lbs bag of beans, $17 for subscribe and save.

Whole bean vs. pre ground is a lot like fresh cracked pepper vs. the regular McCormick pepper

So some people can tell the difference and some can't?
That solves the dilemma for me, because I'm probably in the "can't" camp.

Yep. They roast fresh per order.

I got a friend that works for PJ's in distribution. I recently was hooked up with 2 bags of fresh roasted Columbian dark whole bean days out the factory in New Orleans. It is amazing the difference.
