This thread is a hoot. So many experts.

I like you a lot, so this isn't a dig at you, but you are a professional at passive aggression

Not necessarily a bad quality.

What are the 4 or 5 restaurants that are mentioned in here? Don't feel like reading the whole thread

Look at the thread on the front page about an anniversary dinner.

Same ole, same ole.

If you don't dine out a lot, it's no big deal. If it's something you do relatively often, you've probably been everywhere in the thread.

This!

One would imagine the average F&D boarder would fall into this category. Clearly it's not the case.

BR's food scene isn't that bad really. There are a good bit of local restaurants and decent seafood places. Lots of variety too.

I'll see what the family says next time I'm down. I don't trust my friends anymore. I already know it will be one of 3 or 4 places from them.

Wow, this thread sure got derailed in my absense. FYI, LSU without a car is a dick move on the parents' part. I say that as a kid who attended LSU with a car while living on campus. I didn't think I'd need it, but there are literally no grocery stores within walking distance, no clothing stores, few restaurants, and it's super dangerous after dark (Thanks Old South Baton Rouge!) My SO's cousin (grew up in the Atlanta suburbs) was sent down to LSU without a car (he had one in high school) and it completely screwed him over. He had to bum rides from everyone and was a huge burden on his friends and family in the state (most of whom live in Lafayette). He never got to explore Baton Rouge at all and having to tote him around alienated a lot of the friends he made in the dorms. He would have been much better off with a car.

I could see that for a nice dinner. I'm sure they mentioned Juban's, galatoires, mansurs. But there are lots of places for casual eating. When I visit I can't make up my mind sometimes

Rama, Thai pepper, city pork, George's (h8rs gonna h8), pinettas, mama dellas, fleur de lis, Dempsey's, india's are all good

Savannah's entire economy pretty much revolves around tourism.

I am a bit surprised more people don't feel this way as well. I thought this would be a concentrated place where most people have run out of new things to try.

Like I said in the beginning, I could easily plan a weekend for someone here. There are good things to be had. But you definitely run out quickly.

I didn't have a car and it was fine. If you live in a dorm, you aren't cooking anyway, so they only groceries you need are basic and could be bought at cvs or somewhere.

That's your key word.

Of these places, I've been to the ones I like countless times and had a large portion of the menu. And nothing has changed.

There's a couple in there I'm not a fan of, but that's irrelevant.

Yeah, I could see it getting old if you eat out a lot there. I think there's more variety in BR than Lafayette. Lafayette's native food and plate lunches are better (much better) but the fine dining and international options are inferior.

They don't add to the economy what with all their looting and pillaging.

Well I would say tourism is almost as big a part of its economy as New Orleans.

Ya.

I imagine you could eat out all the time in NOLA and not get burned out.
