Very true.

As the OP question, it would likely not be my choice but if someone suggested it and wanted to go, of course I’d go.

Here's your chance once this opens in Miami.

quote:

Anheuser-Busch InBev is adding another brand to its craft-and-import-focused, "high-end" portfolio with the launch of Veza Sur Brewing Co. this summer in Miami. The beverage megacompany has tapped Colombia's Bogota Beer Company and Oregon's 10 Barrel Brewing for the collaboration.

quote:

Veza Sur is set to open at 55 NW 25th St. early this summer. The 10,000-square-foot space will include a 15-barrel DME brewhouse and a 5,000-square-foot taproom with a terrace.

I didn't notice any Cantillon though.....

If the beer was good I would go.

I like supporting local as much as anyone, but choosing local (small) beer as some sort of battle cry is absurd considering what gets passed over when choosing national over local.

It wouldn't be Budweiser, though. It would be InBev brands. So you could have BCBS, WW, Elysian, 10 Barrel, etc...

I'm sure that it wouldn't be called InBev Public House...

That was more a comment on if Bud/Light was the only option.

I wouldn’t go if I was only interested in drinking, especially if there are better options available.

However, if the food is outstanding I would go on occasion.

There are plenty of places that have great food and atmosphere along with good taplists. I don’t support the way AB-InBev runs their company, so I don’t care how good their food and atmosphere is, I wouldn’t go put money in their pockets, Cantillon or not.

I can't speak for B, but I don't like the way they are heavy handed with their distributors when it comes to delivery and product placement of their beers. They are the bullies of the craft beer world.

ETA: They also spend a lot of money pushing legislation that makes it more difficult for craft brewers to get their beer out to the consumers.

Having said that, I'll go to a 10 Barrel or Elysian brewpub, because they brew local beers, InBev doesn't influence what they can and can't brew, and I'm supporting local people doing what they love doing - brew and serve craft beer. Having said that, it wouldn't be my first choice, because I think their are better choices than 10 Barrel or Elysian.

I don't buy any InBev brand beers in cans/bottle, because I don't want to support the disto of Inbev, which is where they make their money, not the brewpubs. That isn't all that hard, because Wicked Weed is probably the only InBev brand that I would call upper tier (maybe Goose Island, but only because of their BCBS).

Just checking to make sure it is still hypocrisy for not supporting InBev, but still supporting other big box stores and corporations.

Im all on board for not supporting shitty beer.

Budweiser may be shitty beer, but some of the breweries they've purchased don't make shitty beer and that's the dilemma.

If InBev bought Parish, then it would be a very difficult decision for some on this board.

I suppose equally difficult would be that if InBev bought Trillium, and started distributing Trillium stuff to LA, would people on this board buy it? On the one hand, it's InBev. On the other hand, if it weren't for InBev, Trillium would probably get distro in LA. In all likelihood, if InBev bought Trillium, the quality of the beer would fall off, making the decision to not buy it easier.

It gets more confusing. For example, Fosters is brewed and distributed in Australia by InBev. But in Europe, it is brewed and distributed by Heineken. In the US, buy MillerCoors.

I buy all their beers that aren't shity. If they bought Parish I would continue to do so.

Its funny to hear the gripe about InBev skewing politics while breweries (and bars) in Louisiana are calling the ATF on each other. I'm being asked to feel sorry for a group that keeps shooting itself in the foot.

Go read this Excerpts of a new book about Goose Island

It’s a long read, but really worth it. Very interesting. It makes you think about what their end game really is.

Not sure what is inflammatory about that article. Nothing is surprising including a 'buyers remorse' owner that realized his industry rejected him after he sold.

Just another person with a lot of money that bought a brewery and spins out mediocre beer. Theres a brewery in Shreveport that gets praise for it.

I would rather InBev not buy up the breweries, but the product is all that matters. Everything else is window dressing.

Their end game is to buy, not build. Offer "craft" nation wide to the guy who wants to drink craft.

InBev is inept at running a "craft" brewery

InBev runs it like a corporation and didnt give the former owners input into brand decisions

Former owner pissed in mugs at a local bar.

InBev made it rain hops, literally, at an event. The author finds that odd, but the owner pissing in glasses is excusable because InBev is evil.
