Sam Adams is the only modern craft brewer I'm aware of that has gone public. Anyone know of any others?

Kind of. Craft Brew Alliance, Inc. And as we know, you can gain indirect exposure to some craft brewers that have been acquired by larger conglomerates.

Yeah, it's traded at the exchange on Rue Wall in New Iberia.

I might at well start supporting local breweries that don't make good enough beer to be bought out now so I don't feel betrayed later.
I actually think the ones that don't make the good enough beer would be the first to sell out.

Yes, of course.
But they obviously aren't the ones being approached.

$500 bills are hard to cash. You should probably throw in some $3 bills, too...
$3 bills for a craft beer thread. Pretty fitting

So I can have DDH Envie, Ghost, Opus, and Bloom more than a couple of sips per year? At the same quality? And I can actually taste Grace & Grit without having to act like I'm looking for a missing child? Yeah I'm sure I'd be ok with it...
You going to bring any of that stuff over Saturday, Buga?

My issue with the buyouts is basically two parts.
First is economic, the money that used to be generated was American and at least in theory was spent here. Now those profits and to some extent jobs flow to Europe and South Africa.
The second is my belief that the logical endgame for ABInBev is that they are buying talent. I think that the time will come where they choose to compete in the craft beer market. Given their talent acquisitions and virtually limitless funding it would come as no shock to see ABInBev create a series of small subsidiary Breweries stealthily hidden as legit locally owned craft breweries.
I know some will laugh at this; however, it's already happened. There was a rage about Not Your Fathers Rootbeer and it's producer "Small Town Brewery". Come to find out the Brewery itself doesn't even exist and after sorting out the ownership it is in fact Four Loko. I see ABInBev slowly building to do the same. I think the global macros see that craft isn't going anywhere. They've tried using their distribution partners and legislation to curb crafts growth with varying degrees of success. The next step is to infiltrate the craft scene and delegitimize it. The goal is for enough people become apathetic and continue to support the Goose Islands, Lagunitas and Wicked Weeds of the world.

AC Golden did this and made Colorado Native, which is a really good amber.
