For the old school guys. Is it called a ice-cream float when you put a scoop of ice cream in a glass of coke? Use to get this in a old drug store. All replys are welcome.

Rootbeer is hard to find here. And it sucks. I'm in the Knoxville Tennessee area. Any clue to where I can get this?

I've always referred to this as a 'brown cow'.

Its called a Coke float, or Root Beer float. Not an Ice Cream Float.

Corkarella is wrong.

This. My dad and I used to always get these at the DQ in Welsh when we'd drive back from the games.

I've always called them root beer floats and Coke floats depending on which soft drink I use. Sonic used to make those things when I was a kid and I could be mistaken but I would have swore they called them ice cream floats.

A & W Root Beer stands were the best. Apparently they're still around.

I have always called it a root beer float, but from henceforth will call it a spider. If only because I want my kids to say they had spiders for dessert or that spiders are their favorite dessert.

With the product in the post above if you just drop the ice cream in it, it is a float. If you stir/mix it together it becomes a shake.

This is also much better than any float made with a coke/soda/pop.
