We do this a lot. Have dinner one place, dessert and a nightcap at another. Just a change of scenery and I've never had anyone not be accommodating.

I never thought about doing that before. Will have to try it. Which restaurants in Nola have the best desserts?

Ad McD vs Reality McD

I hate ads. There should be a law that if the product they serve doesn't look like the ad, they must give it to you free.

It would kill the ad industry.

IMO you can't fully rely on Yelp or Urbanspoon...and FWIW the Yelp reviews are better than Urbanspoon by far. Most of the recs on here have been spot on and many posters are straightforward about it...and I find a lot of the reviews on the two sites I mentioned complain about the most trivial things (i.e. it's common to see someone give a restaurant 1 or 2 stars because of the 'parking' situation or because they didn't like the decor).

Or Walk On's or Cane's. Although the two I mentioned are much worse than Rum House...

Not to hijack a thread, but neither Yelp or Urbanspoon are reliable. I can sum it up this way, Yelp gives Boutin's, arguably the worst non-chain restaurant in BR, 3 of 5 stars. On US 57% liked it, really?

If you like pie, go to noodle & pie on mag uptown. I'm not even a fan of pies but they had me drooling.

Based on my experience, 57% and 3 stars, I would consider awful!

I use yelp/US for almost everything. It's not hard to weed through the bullshite on there.

Eta, you and CADX70 should speak

57% is a pretty reliable indicator that it's not good..the people who like it are probably tourists. Anything less than 80% is usually suspect. Very good is upper 80's or higher with large amounts of votes. The only restaurants that get ratings like 20% are places like burger king (and who even votes on that?)
