the true first location was on False River in Oscar, LA
True that, but for us ancients roll the time machine back some more to the Triple Arch restaurant at the south end of the lake where LA-1 turned south. Scene of where my folks may or may not have slipped very-young me a sip of their 7 oz ponies.
Good times.

Drusilla is not good anymore but their sensation salad is the only one that reminds me of R&Ks and Giamancos
Worth a trip every year or so

Try Duke's Seafood and Steak House right off I-12 at the Bass Pro Exit in Denham. Duke does seafood the way Don's did until they went cookie-cutter chain-style and messed with their menu.
In fact, Duke ran the Don's on Airline for about 20 years before being ousted by his cousins because he refused to go along with the chain-style changes they were making. He thought they were to the detriment of his customers.
Duke's serves excellent food with very good service. It's my go-to for seafood in the area.

Had a buddy in high school that gave me stacks of free rax roast beef coupons, and he worked the drive thru…I’d roll in and order ten at a time and he would hand them to me lol
Good times

There's one off the causeway in Mobile. But it blows.

The Triple Arch! I have similar memories. As I recall it burned down. I think Satterfield's, when it was open, had an old Triple Arch menu on the wall. The prices were unreal....sooooo low!
Great memories of days gone by.

The original one was on False River, and my parents were school classmates of R&K in New Roads. I have fond childhood memories of going there where we could not wait for the fresh puppies to come out to the table - I can still taste them! The one on Bluebonnet was the last real one to hold up the original quality. After they sold the franchise the other locations went downhill. Such good things were never meant to last. Ralph & Kacoo, you did good!

That was my mom’s favorite. The hush puppies were always good. The one on the causeway in Mobile doesn’t even have hush puppies???? It’s like the cub not having al gratin potatoes

Does anyone remember the original in New Roads?

So a <10 year old me would not have understood the larger cultural significance of the place, but all I knew was that the food was good and whatever that fizzy liquid that the folks were sneaking to me had some magic in it. To this day I still love my beer :)

For some reason I was thinking there used to be a Ralph and Kacoo's in Monroe? May not have been but this got me to thinking......damn I do miss Frank and Janie's. Think it closed down some years ago but I used to love going there.

Weird that their three locations remaining are: Bossier City, LA Spanish Fort, AL Lufkin, TX
Weirder still that the Bossier City location opened in 1969 along with the BR one. I always figured the Bossier spot would have come along much later.

They had one in Monroe in the 80's. It was cheap to eat lunch there. Cheap enough for a college student to eat there every couple of weeks. That one was pretty casual.
If we go to Shreveport for anything, we usually stop and eat at the one in Bossier.
