Friend,

That is how Philadelphians say a sandwich is “ruined” and they are correct. Mayonnaise on any sandwich but especially an Italian one is an abomination. And we can only surmise that the above poster who recommends this sandwich as the best in the world is either trolling or has never been to a proper deli or poorboy shop.

Jersey Mike's is a cut above the other chain sandwich shops. I typically get the Italian, but probably need to try some other offerings.

Firehouse isn't bad either.

There is one in Metry and really unless someone can tell me otherwise one of the few places in the area to get a decent Philly cheesesteak.

You've never really had a real shrimp poboy if you get it without mayo.

Jersey Mikes is solid for a chain. I really like their chipotle chicken cheesesteak and the super club.

I use butter instead of mayo

I like mayo on a shrimp poboy fine. Putting it on a sandwich with Italian deli meats and cheeses is an utter and complete abomination.

Friend,

It is like we are brothers. Butter is the appropriate moisturizing ingredient for shrimp poorboys. It is why so many people say Johnny’s has the best shrimp poorboy in town.

Jersey Mike’s is fine if you are desperate for an Italian sandwich and live far from a real deli, but to say it serves the best sandwich on Earth is ridiculous.

us fellow Anglicans need to stick together.

I am not a big Italian sandwich, processed deli meat kinda guy. The Philly cheesesteak is why I am going there.

and yes, if you hate mayo (I know I know lol) for a seafood poor boy, butter is a very good substitute.

RIP Liberty (not Metairie but close enough).

Yinzer’s is okay, but honestly NOLA has crap for cheesesteaks. Jersey Mike’s is arguably one of the better in the area.

The chipotle cheesesteak definitely has spicy mayo in it.

I think Jersey Mike's makes a solid cheesesteak. We have a local place I like better but it's definitely good for a quick lunch

I got a muffuletta from a little grocery store in my old neighborhood and halfway through eating it, I realized there was mayo. I damn near threw up. Mayo should only be near olive salad if they’re in separate bottles.

What a little cry baby. It was good and tasty enough that you ate half of it, but when you saw mayo you turned into a little girl and threw a fit. Pathetic.

We have one being built right now. Eagerly waiting.

Same here.

As for the comparisons to Blimpie, Blimpie's shaker seasoning mix had oregano -- and I really liked what that added to the sandwich.

We don’t have a jersey mikes where we live.. every time we go visit family back home, I make a trip there.

It’s a damn good sandwich. I do get the blimpie vibes, smells fresh when you walk in
