Over the past few months I've become an Aldi convert. Their online ordering system is also a breeze to use.

I've never had an issue with subpar products, and outside of their coffee, I've found their store brand products to be just fine. Certainly not worth paying double the price at a Roues.

My biggest issue with Aldi is the produce, you better use that shite in the next day or it's rotten.

My wife and I like to meal prep our lunches for the week and having produce that goes bad in a couple days is no bueno.

They have some good stuff and some absolute overpriced garbage.

Unfortunately they don't have enough to make them a one stop shop, which sucks.

This. If you figure out what you like there, going by occasionally is reasonable. But it's a crap place to be your regular grocery store, basically a step up from Dollar General.

I will fully agree I can't get everything there, like someone said coconut milk or maybe other random ingredients, but I also don't cook with coconut milk often so if I need something more obscure, then I'll go to Rouses.

But for meats, veggies/fruits, and starches, Aldi hasn't let me down yet. Maybe I just don't need the 15 options of one product anymore.

I dont know about Aldi, and I doubt we get one in Alex, but I am fascinated by the culture of ripping em off of the quarter.

No one gets ripped off. You get the quarter back when you return the cart to the corral. It's the incentive to do so.

Alex actually seems like a good market for an Aldi. They cater to low to mid level income folks and the budget-conscious.

I love going to places like Aldi and Trader Joe’s.

I try to go to each of the Veterans locations every 2 or 3 months.

Lots of cool stuff and good prices.

But i would NEVER rely on either exclusively for my weekly groceries. No selection whatsoever at either.

Thats what Rouses and Winn-Dixie are for.

Dude I’ve already got 4 options. I don’t need a 5th.

I've been there a couple of times but I'm not really crazy about it. I dunno, I got really turned off when I went there around the end of last year to do New Year's shopping and they didn't have cabbage. WTF?!? Cabbage is a good, cheap staple.

Not sure what people mean about produce going bad. I meal prep all my lunches and their food lasts plenty long. I don't think I've ever thrown anything away except a single pack of cheese that got mold after being open a week.

I realized recently that Aldi provides enough things I like to become a regular stop for me for “supplemental” groceries. I go to the one in Central, which I have heard is the best one around BR. I havent had issues with produce. The fresh Brussels sprouts are cheap and good. Prettiest mushrooms I have seen in a while. The breads, cheeses, and some frozen items are very good. I buy several balls of fresh pizza dough and freeze it. They had some key lime sandwich cookies over the summer to which my husband became addicted. For me it’s worth carrying a quarter in my car (and usually someone gives me their cart in the parking lot and I MAKE a quarter) and spending $3 on reusable bags.
