I waited a long time in restaurant bars for a table, but that's part of the fun when you're out for the night. I don't think I've waited in a line for more than 30 minutes.

So many people
Even self proclaimed foodies
Follow the hype and buzz more than sense
Food is food and there are very few special dishes in the entire world that you can only find at one restaurant

Oysters at acme vs dragons vs Felix vs Deanies
Is there really a difference?

Hot dogs at dougs vs any other high end hot dog place also no different but some followers believe it's worth a 10 hour wait in line

Yes there really is. Somehow I'm not shocked you don't think so.

And even if there wasn't, that only reinforces my opinion that those people are idiots for waiting in line when then can get at least equal to product right across the street.

They're all p and j oysters
And caution with getting into the p and j cult

I've had better la oysters from a no name market than the best pjs I've ever had

The cooks and shuckers at deanies acme Felix and dragos all come from similar backgrounds and are largely interchangeable
Bet many move back and forth from these restaurants

Blind taste test will show peep can't tell difference btw oysters from these restaurants

Again, you're still making my point for me.

And for the record, I wasn't talking about raw. But please continue on with acting like you know everything.

Franklin BBQ - four hours maybe? We were shite faced by the time we got in there and offended several customers. Afterwards I spent the rest of the afternoon in the fetal position in our hotel bathroom. It was totally worth it.

There's a big difference between Franklin BBQ and regular BBQ, but I agree with you here (as well as about oysters down here). I was in Chicago two weekends ago and we went to Hot Doug's. Took one look at the line and said frick it. I'm not going to spend my day waiting for a freaking hot dog (especially with no beer in line). I doubt it would have been much better than Dat Dog.

Define "wait in line"

The longest I've probably actually stood in a line was at Pat's in Philly and that was 45 min.

Plenty of times I've gone out to dinner and waited an hour or so for a table. Waited two hours for a table once at Port of Call but we had a group of like 25 people, so the time passed easily.

I have not had the other rival BBQ places in Austin to determine if waiting that long produced the best BBQ in the city,

It's not worth the wait. LA BBQ is pretty close to the same quality, and the wait can be an hour or less. John Mueller is also very good and has a shorter wait than that usually.

Well, you have said it several times now. Is that enough or will another thread be coming soon?
