I know some people use salt and pepper only. Just looking for some new ideas on preparing burger patties before grilling. Anyone have any secret recipes or ingredients they'd like to share?

Paprika, Salt, Pepper, garlic powder, onion powder. Flatten them as much as you can, put a thumb print in the middle and cook with that side up to start.

Edit: I add dried mustard from time to time to add more zest.

I know it's cheating, but I ordered the Red Robin seasoning off of Amazon, and I use that.

You can start by calling it hamburger steak.

I add minced red onion, a little bbq sauce, creole seasoning, an egg and Italian breadcrumbs. Mix and make patties .75" thick

This... I'd season with actual minced onion and garlic if making hamburger steaks

I've been doing mine with just salt and fresh ground black pepper, over charcoal, but I've been throwing some Traeger pellets (Pecan or Hickory) on the coals and closing the lid during the cook. The ground beef absorbs the smoke quickly and it's better than any seasoning you could add.

Matty Matheson is my spirit animal. You have to trust a tatted up fat man that curses like a sailor because that dude's eaten a hamburger or two in his lifetime.

If you add eggs you aren’t making a hamburger you’re making meatloaf
