I just saw it on Adam Richmond's best sandwich in Amwrica and it was on a similar show on PBS.

I lived in NOLA for two years and never ate there. Also, in all the recommendations I got for where to eat a po boy from natives (and there many opinions) not ONE person recommended Domilise's.

It doesn't get much support on this board but I still like it a lot and go there pretty regularly when I'm down there.

I love it, not my favorite, but still very good.

Yeah I just got reminded of why R&Os is my favorite in the city. Don't get why more shows don't go there.

I do agree with this. I grew up going to R&O's because my grandfather lives around the corner from there. Love that place.

Like a few other places in town, it's living off of its reputation from a long time ago. I'll eat there occasionally (like once a year or so), but it's not that great. Cool, old school atmosphere, I guess.

Acme Oyster House, Preservation Hall, Mother's, etc. It is hilarious to see tourists stand in line at those places when the same thing (or better) is right around the corner. But, some of these places have made it into the guide books and what-not, so they get all the play. More room for the rest of us in the other places.

Bourdaine was at R&Os last week. Domillises roast beef may be the worst I've ever had

Actually, I wouldn't put this shrine on that list. Just me.

It is good, but there is good jazz elsewhere too that you don't have to stand in line for for an hour. That's all I am saying.

True. But when the "real" group is playing there and not on tour, they're a treat to see.

+1

They are one of the few places that plays traditional New Orleans Dixieland jazz. It in noway deserves to be on the list.

I've never been to Dom's, but just that I know they use precooked roast beef takes it down a notch imho. Not saying it's not good, but I'd go for homemade Roast Beef Debris every time.

Domilises is not where you go for a Roast Beef poboy.

I've said on here many times, Domilises is my favorite Shrimp Poboy in NOLA...not a native, so I guess my opinion isn't worth shite though.

Oh, and their sauce is not just 'ketchup'. It's a house derived concoction of deliciousness.

I've never been, but I saw that they put ketchup on their poboys so it's quite possible I'll never try the place.

Bourdain went there in late 2007 to shoot no reservations and him and Chris rose ate there. From what I can remember, that was probably the first food/travel related show on Nola since the storm (minus emeril on emeril live talking bout the storm). Ever since then soo many shows throw that place into the hat of must have eats in Nola. Atmosphere is cool, but not a fan of small shrimp and ketchup on my poboy

Because Tracy Porter chose it over Parkway (on Food Wars) based off the fact it had sauce.

You do know what's in the sauce right?

Just so we're clear I wasn't trying to say that at all in my OP. In fact nobody ever (from NOLA or not) has ever given me that place as a rec. I wasn't even that familiar with it until I saw it on the PBS sandwhich show.
