My 17yo son and I are going to Houston on Easter Weekend for the PGA golf tournament and to play a round at The Golf Club of Houston. Where and what are some cool places to eat that he and I might enjoy?

Truth, Pit Room, Pickertons for traditional BBQ

Blood Bros for something a little different.

Mein is an approachable Chinatown dinner.

We are staying at the Courtyard Marriott, it's about 1/4 a mile from where the shuttles depart for the tournament, not too far from Memorial Park. It's not a fancy place but I had a couple of free nights to use and I don't have to park my car amongst the throngs of people when were done. Thanks for the suggestions.

know exactly where that is. All of these are in the area

Hughie's is right down the road from there. Decent Vietnamese and a great beer selection

tacos dona lena is opening a location on 18th soon, if it is open check it out. Great food

superica little more white women friendly tex-mex

Jaunita's or Tony's for old school trashier tex-mex.

el hidalguense for zero English speaking Mexican food.

queen's donut for breakfast is solid

Magnol for the best ham and cheese croissants. Order online the day before. it is right across from the shuttle

Don’t get the love for this place.
But I admit I’ve only been to the one in Atlanta. Forgettable.

Gross.

At least suggest something half way decent in that area...like Crisp.

the one in houston is perfectly fine, so either locational quality is hugely different or the entire world has been lied to about texas' tex-mex being good.

please do not do pink's pizza

gypsy poet, grace, and coastline are all much better for pizza, and places like coltivare, sofia, and crisp do it much better as well. rosie cannonball and coltivare are awesome well-rounded italian meals.

I'd put Superica in the middle to lower second tier of Tex Mex in Houston.

It's iight.

OP, skate down 610 to Urbe in Uptown Park. Counter service for brunch/lunch...the guy that owns it also owns what are widely considered the best upscale, actual Mexican food places in Houston (Hugo's, Caracol, Xochi)...but Urbe is more approachable.
