Looking for the best local food around the Galleria area, no chains or Cajun.

RDG/Bar Annie has always been a solid option in the Galleria area: LINK

Phoenicia is fricking phenomenal.

The original location...the one you're referring to is my favorite, but the downtown location isn't bad at all either(MKT Bar/Phoenicia).

A must try for every visitor to our fair city. If you tell them it's a special occasion, they'll even do their best to replicate a Bourbon Street Steak for you but they admit the Applebee's original is a tall order to duplicate...

While their two locations aren't in "galleria" area, Buffalo Grille for breakfast on a Saturday is about as Houston as it gets.

I love Kenny and Ziggys too.

Chama Gaúcha Brazilian Steakhouse (chain, but delicious - I know they have another location in San Antonio - and maybe Austin and Dallas?)

Grotto Ristorante

Do yourself a favor and check out Phoenicia Grocery around the corner from the café, once you've finished your chicken shawarma and kibi. Amazing.
