Which one? Houston has two: Bush (IAH) on the north side of town and Hobby (HOU) on the south side.

Houston is a great food city with options galore and there are lots of people who post in the FDB that will offer recommendations.

It'll help if you can refine what you're interested in: fine/casual dining, international cuisines, etc?

If BBQ, try Corkscrew(in old town Spring - north side of town) or Killens BBQ (in Pearland - south side).

NOTHING near the stadium. Stay NOWHERE near NRG. Don't drink near NRG. Don't eat near NRG. Many out of towners will make this mistake. The way the city is presented gives the illusion that things will be close to the game/stadium. It is not.

The only thing you should be on the south loop for after dark is a football game. And you should be hoofing it somewhere nice.

Those who see only south loop Houston will be disappointed.

My recs:

Tex mex - el Tiempo or Nifas on Navigation
Beer - petrol station or hay merchant
Burgers - burger joint or stantons
Steak - STQ or BB Butcher
Fine Dining - the pass

Edit...there are a lot of great places search for theeads with Houston in the title and you should get plenty of lists.

Hugo's for Mexican
Can't go wrong with either Vic and Anthony's or Del Friscos for steak.

Follow-up from our trip, if anyone is interested:

Hugo's: 3.5/5.
Good mixed drinks/margaritas and small plates. Nothing blew our minds. My favorite dish was the lechon (suckling pig).

The Pit Room: 4.8/5
Excellent brisket and brisket tacos. Several people went back the next day because they enjoyed it so much. Nice outdoor/bar area for hanging out. The sides were good but not great (we had okra and mac & cheese).

One Fifth: 4.5/5
Excellent steak (I had the long bone ribeye). Very good wine list. Oysters and uni panna cotta for appetizers were very good. The sides (we had twice baked potatoes, broccoli and rice casserole, and lamburger helper) were okay.
