Heading over in early March to watch LSU Baseball in the Shriners Classic. Looking for a recommendations on places to eat that are conveniently located in the downtown area or could be easily reached by rail.

Give me a few casual recommendations and a few nicer places please.

Don't expect to be riding the rails with the class of the city, just a heads up.

Wasn't that bad when we used it for LSU/Wisconsin a few years back?

That's because it was full of people headed to the football game.

I don't think people will be flocking to Minute Maid Park for college baseball games. You'll be riding with the normal Lightrail crowd.

B&B Butchers

So we went there last night and had a killer meal, here are some pictures. we ate at 5:30 so it was not all that crowded, the chef came by our table and was talking to us about their steaks, we must've talked for 30 minutes. They are only one of a handful of restaurants in Texas that actually serve legit Kobe beef from Kobe Japan.... the service was polished and very precise but not stuffy. Our waitress was a very cute Asian gal named Marlene....ask for her if you go. anyway, here are some pics of the menu for those interested in some things we ordered.

Here is the menu:

We got the "chef tommy's bacon" appetizer and it was everything I could ever imagine it tasting like....Took one photo with the flash and one without, hence the different coloration.

I ordered the 8 ounce wagyu which tasted excellent but it just look like any other state so I did not take a photo for obvious reasons. My wife ordered the wasabi encrusted tuna, here are some pics of the fish and not my wife.

We set on the rooftop terrace which had a very nice view of downtown, the weather was 75° with a slight breeze. It was absolutely perfect night to eat outside. Here are a few pics of the upstairs Terrace, still festive for Christmas.

Riel

Went for dinner on January 27, reservations were at 8pm and it was still packed when we left. Small and cozy inside and dimly lit, great spot for a date with the SO. Would strongly recommend this place to anyone wanting a good meal and polished service. Our waiter knew everything about the menu in detail and was very enthusiastic when explaining something to us.

Outside of the restaurant, small spot with complimentary valet like many restaurants.

Here is the menu for 27-Jan, which changes with the seasons.

Here is the "texas blue crab" appetizer, it was very tasty. Lots of butter in it but not too overwhelming....the bacon did it for me. Huge bacon fan here.

Wife (no pics) had the duck which was awesome. The yellow sauce you see around the edge was a sweet potato puree with thai chili and ginger in it...was perfect to eat with the meat.

I got the hanger steak, medium rare. Blew my mind it was so tender....

Mala Sichuan.

Best Chinese food I have ever eaten. Authentic regional Sichuan food that you can't find in Louisiana. There are two locations, one in China Town and one in Montrose.

Was going to post this. It's very easy to get to. Take the Fannin rail to McGowen and it's about a block walk. If money is no object, check out Vic and Anthony's.

I would like to add Huynh Resturant to this list. It's the most legit Vietnamese food I've ever had. It's within walking distance from Minute Maid.
