It's big city, which part of town? Nice places all over....Washington Ave, Midtown, Montrose, Rice Village, The Heights. And what kind of ambiance do you want?

yeah, wine or cocktails. Maybe a few beer selections

area: Med Center, Midtown, Downtown, Rice, or Upper Kirby

On Upper Kirby there is Downing Street

Fedora Lounge is a place I've wanted to hit up near Rice but have not yet.

I think Hotel ZaZa has a bar. Seems like a nice place.

If you like piano bars, there's a Howl At The Moon in Midtown. Most places in midtown seem to be dive or clublike. Midtown Drinkery is hit or miss. Little Woodrows is a classic ice house, good beer selection but limited on wine and basic cocktails.

Leon's Lounge is a good place to get a good cocktail in Midtown. Their sister bar in Rice Village Under The Volcano is a nice little spot too. Their Pimm's Cup is good.

If you're in the Village, The Ginger Man has the best selection of beer in the Village. And Kay's Lounge is an ultimate dive with Schlitz and PBR in a can for $2.

I want to go to Ginger Man, but I'll probably avoid beer-exclusive bars tonight. I drag the lady to beer bars all the time and I want something for her.

If you're into the whole mixology scene, you can check out Anvil on Westheimer near Montrose. If you're looking to get sketchy, check out Marfreless on West Gray and Peden. There's no sign, just a blue door. There are hookers/undercover cops at Hotel ZaZa. If you're looking for a more "urban" environment, check out Martell, iBar, Cotton Club, etc. downtown. If you want to hang out with the cool and hip teenagers, go to Rich's midtown: 18 to party, 21 to drink! Or you can check out Club Roxy out by the Galleria featuring DJ Penetrate (I'm not lying about the name by the way) on Saturday nights. If you want a sleazy meat market, check out Capone's on Mid Lane at Westheimer. If you require further help, I'm available...

If it's cold outside it's great to go to the Black Lab. Love it there. We'd go eat at Max and Julie's then head there
