I have milk crates and the carboy fits so snug in there it makes it hard to get a hold of.

bright IPA. Here's my recipe as of now. I'm using Lawson's double sunshine, 3 floyd's zombie dust, and Jai Alai as my base beers

I'd drink it... Get a bottle to B and I'll review it for you.

Got my scoresheets back from the Humpback competition. I entered a hoppy pale ale. Were the judges drinking the same beer? The comments are completely contradictory between them.

I couldn't do that. I'd cuss them both, if I liked the beer myself.

The one on the right is much more helpful. And I agree with the comments.

They're supposed to discuss and come to an agreement on the score within a point or two. Really makes you wonder if they actually were drinking the same beer.

Was given a gallon ziplock bag of fresh whole cone Cascade hops picked last night. So, I'm making a wet hop pale ale today.

well, I mashed in and hit 148, which is what I was shooting for. so far, so good.

I think I figured out what happened with the low gravity issue with the Berliner weisse. When I sparged, I didn't let it sit for a little while, I just added the sparge water, stirred and drained. Still not sure why I didn't get enough volume, but that's not a big issue.

Batch sparging? If so that shouldn't be a issue. I add that second batch at around 188F to get the grains up to 170. Hotter rinse helps get those sugars out.

I usually dump sparge. Stir. Recirculate until clear again and open the valve a little less than half way open for a slower drain.
