This will be my 3rd year for my Chinooks and Cascades. I'm going to give them plenty to grow on and am hoping for a bumper crop.

Hey guys
I have a couple 'extra' growlers if anybody's interested.

I don't necessarily want to sale them, but maybe a trade of one of my other growlers filled with a home brew?

Y'all let me know....

I have two each (brown & clear)

I think it's the recipe from BYO magazine. I was actually thinking of doing either Heady or one of the hill farmstead clones (another issue of BYO i believe) this year, seeing as i doubt i'll ever get to try it. But for now, i enjoy making my own recipes, as i have grand delusions of starting my own brewery one day.

I'm planning on brewing the double sunshine recipe from the VT clone issue of BYO later this week.

Not sure about the Hill Farmstead recipes, but the author of the article has said that Sean Lawson gave him alot of input on the LFL clones.

Lawson's Finest Liquids, that's the other ones i'd like to try brewing. The Hill Farmstead was in an older issue i think. Or maybe it was the same issue, i don't know.

I would wait for some reviews before dropping that kind of cash, especially since the yeast is what supposedly sets Heady apart. ECY has a strain that was possibly cultured from Heady. If one of you mavens would get me a Heady then I would gladly produce yeast for all to try.

you'd think we could make that happen considering how much of that stuff gets drank in the FBD threads.

I just joined the mailing list for East Coast Yeast. It seems the easiest way to pick up some of their yeast is to order it in 6 pack variety packs from Princeton Homebrew. The next time some become available is anyone interested in co-ordering? I'm specifically looking at you wild brewers.

I can get you a can. Shoot me an email with your mailing address. foreverlsu00 at gmail.com

Chico was able to successfully culture the strain from a can a few months back, but got tied up opening the store before he had a chance to plate and freeze the cultures.

I'd say yes. It has some interesting articles on brew processes, and recipe formulation. They also have a bunch of stuff on homebrew builds, equipment, gear,etc... They basically cover everything to do with homebrewing. They manage to get clone recipes direct from the brewery, but eventually it all ends up on the interwebs.

I like it. It's part of my bathroom reading. There was a point, where for 4 straight issues, each one dealt with the style of brew i was brewing at that time.
I used it to help me with my oatmeal stout, and i first learned about whirlpool hopping from BYO. Again all of this can be found on the internet, but i don't really go looking for some of the information. So when i come across it, it's good knowledge to store for later brews.
I also subscribe to zymurgy. I like BYO better, because it focuses more on the every day homebrewer. I feel zymurgy focuses more on competitions.

I just put together the Heady clone from BYO at AHS and it only came to $57. That was with a larger grain bill and liquid yeast included.

Austin is also recommending Wyeast 1028 London Ale with that kit which doesn't seem right either.

:rasiseshand: I've wanted to try out some of their yeasts, but I always miss the announcements when they're released.

Another Heady yeast source should be coming online any day now. I've been patiently waiting for them for a while now. He should have some good yeasts. The Yeast Bay
