Two defunct restaurants that I dearly miss are Ronnie's Ribs (sort of a misnomer because I never did have the ribs there) and Montana's for their Bandeja Paisa platter.

I went to La Reyna once and personally I didn't care for it. I mean it was OK, but I wouldn't go back. Never cared for Dim Sum, either.
On the other hand, went to La Morenita earlier today and holy crap, those were quite possibly the best tacos I have ever had. I ordered 3 and added some of the toppings from the salsa bar, and got a lime Jarritos to wash it down. Talk about good. I might even go back tomorrow.
As for Viet food, my favorite in town is Dang Cafe. The banh mi are on-point, as is the spicy bun (#45) and whatever #48 is (noodles w/ beef and grilled onions - similar to pad thai).
I'll add Pappa's Soul Food, Dixie Maid Drive-In and Cafe Express

Not a restaurant but I went to AZ International Fine Foods today for the first time. (first time making chicken tikka masala and I needed tandoori spice)I have passed this place zillions of times and never went in. It has a great selection of things you don't see anywhere else.

I am not a Seinfeld-level germophobe, but there is a class of restaurants I stay away from, I know what I have seen, and it does not exist in all restaurants as some people will say.

I don't see Red Stick Spice mentioned on here often. Not technically food, but a great little shop for spices and loose teas.

AW HELL YEAH. That's way closer to me than their tiny place down Florida.
Also, please, please, please do a big piece on Omi's Chinese menu. It's not hidden because a huge portion of this city's population are mouthbreathers and drive past it every day, but just ignore it in favor of Chili's or Applebee's.
Omi really needs big exposure because most of Baton Rouge would rather eat dogshit before supporting a really good restaurant. The rest of us should know about that place, though.
Omi's Chinese menu. Do it.

Those people do not own the place anymore.
I didn't like the children running around when the old owners had it either. I don't do well around children and they can sense that I have no idea how to talk to them. When they don't speak English, that vibe is tenfold.

Breaks my heart every time I go in there and it's empty.
The Garlic Sauce Eggplant might be one of the best things I've ever eaten anywhere.
More people need to know about this place.. and NOT order sushi rolls.

Omi really needs to put descriptions on the Chinese menu. I don't let it stop me from going, but having to call over the owner to explain the menu to me every time I want to try something new gets old.

Yeah, I agree with that. If you want people of BR to experience real Chinese, you have to reach out to them with some effort. They need some advertising.. something that finds a tactful way of letting people know it's not run-of-the-mill Americanized Chinese food. And then they need to put descriptions on the menu because "Ants Climbing Trees" tells me nothing. I've Googled anything I've ordered there.
I sent my mom there, who rarely tries new places, and she adored the food. But she'd have never gone had I not convinced her.
