Bizarre list. All pretty different.
Obviously August would be number 1 on any list.

Pelican Club.
Root and Pelican Club is just a matter of personal preference. Anyone picking Maximo's over the other 3 should probably be questioned for insanity.

I like Maximo's, but its not in the same league as the other three. Maximo's does a great job with scallops and their chicken dish is a local favorite. Pelican Club is the only possible bad pick in the bunch; I haven't been since they had a change in the ownership/chefs, but the reviews are a little mixed on it. August is superb, but price wise, its also the leader in that grouping.

i've only eaten at two of these--Pelican Club and August. Enjoyed both but I'd choose August between those two, no question.
I've got reservations at August in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

I went to Root a few days ago and thought it was just o.k. I loved Pelican Club the first couple of times I went. But the last two visits, it was just o.k.

I like Maximo's better than Muriel's, never eaten at Root. August is on a whole other level. What about Sylvain?

Looks like August is the front runner. Never been to Sylvain's, but I will look into it. Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
