Opting to not open for the upcoming season...

LINK

Never been, but think I remember people here saying they were some of the best around.

Sad. It was great. My mother lived in Branch for many years and we would go there during those years.

They said due to COVID. Not sure how they operated, but places around here who did drive up service last spring were killing it during the early outbreak era.

A local boil truck had online ordering and payment, and then would put the crawfish in your ice chest in the trunk or back of your truck. No contact at all. Had a line of cars down the highway picking up.

And they did some pop up stuff last year as well.
My dad called me today and said he had bad news, thought he was going to tell me he had cancer or something and he hits me with Hawks not opening.

He loved going there

That sucks, we usually go once a year, I think my wife likes the experience of damn near getting lost to find them, every time we go I don’t have phone service the entire time. Going to Hawks is a journey but the crawfish are always great.

Their pop ups were fairly successful but I think practically all of them were a Wed-Sat operation at the Wurst downtown. Though recently I noticed The Wurst has someone new doing crawfish right now, I didn’t think to check their prices when there last night, so I’m unsure if that means Hawks has to find a new location. I do remember that they’d practically never go down on prices, while most places were dropping prices around $20/5lb the pop up deal was still $30+/5lb and that always seemed to lessen their crowds as the season went on and crawfish would get cheaper.

overrated - used to be the best because they were on of the first to have a sit down serving purged crawfish and people liked the novelty of driving to a rural area to eat crawfish

I don't eat crawfish in restaurant very often but there are 5 places in Acadiana that are just as good or better

I never understood the allure of that. The best parts of a crawfish boil are everything but this.

Agree and disagree. Room for both.

I love crawfish boils, but they are expensive and a lot of work.

I also love going somewhere to eat crawfish and let others do the work. I simply go home after.

You don't have to pick one or the other.
