Welp good to know

I tried to find a pic, but must have deleted them all.

Little tough thin steak pre-sliced. Looks like it is cooked on a dry flat-top. The gravy is less tasty than the stuff you get out a packet.

Halfway through they bring you another of the same and slide it on your plate.

The fries are whatever, they are fries.

Somehow the food manages to be cheap and still makes me question whether it was worth the price.

It’s fine. I doubt it lasts. They have one cut of steak. That will get old fast.

I miss Juan’s.

I think that is the concept and its a smart one. Do a simple set menu of one thing at a good price. Really smart.

However, you have to do that one thing REALLY WELL. And it doesn't sound like they do.

I thought it was okay. It was not horrible, but I wouldn't say it was done "REALLY WELL" either. I felt like I got what I paid for, but don't feel the need to hurry back.

It reminded me of (and this may sound like a putdown, but I don't mean it as such, because I liked this steak for what it was as well) a steak I had on an Amtrak train once. Not something I'd ever want to get in an actual steakhouse, but something still quite satisfying.

The concept probably works well on the Northshore, Metry, or maybe even the FQ.

It does appeal to a certain clientele that they might struggle to attract to that area.

And suburban DC, one of the most culinary sterile places on earth. It’s been crowded since they opened but the Whole Foods area is kind of a dead zone of options and I think once the curiosity wears off people will lose interest.

Was hoping this would be like Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecote in NYC, which is pretty cool but fries look worse and no green sauce.

Le Entrecôte
10-1 they’re modeled after this steak and frites place in Paris:

Those weren’t terrible the few times I visited them. I seem to remember a lot of wine being involved.
It was relatively inexpensive for what you got.

18oz Ribeye was $66 and 8oz Filet was $52 per diner from last weekend.

For what it is, there isn't enough of a price discount. Give me Doris or Johns all day long.

Charlie’s is not nearly as expensive as Doris and the other top notch steakhouses.

It is cheaper and the quality reflects that. Not bad. Just not great.

It sounds to me like this place is trying to be the modern day version of Crazy Johnny’s which used to be across from Drago’s in Fat City.

I'm picky when it comes to steak. I like a nice char on the outside and Medium Rare inside. Pittsburgh style I think they call it.

Pittsburgh style is charred on the outside but rare (or even raw) on the inside.

Not medium rare, usually
