I tried going with the family last Friday night and it was so packed that we ended up at Los Reyes down the street. I hate that fricking tent they put up that screwed the parking lot up.

I haven’t been to Chimes East in forever. It really feels like a completely different restaurant than the Chimes on campus

They raised the price of a dozen raw to like $24 IIRC and dont do half off specials anymore. Food is expensive. Beer is still reasonably priced TBF.

Edit: I went a week ago and they were out of alligator, out of the beer I wanted to try, and out of the tequila I wanted instead of the beer. I then asked the bartender to just surprise me with something they do have. She was a good sport.

It’s still good but Covid has really changed the resturants industry….it’s every place you go to

Not so. Depends on the state.

Funny you should say that. Last time I went I found a 9mm shell casing laying on the ground, not 10 feet from the back door.

Nope. I’ve been twice and that was one too many times. Love The Chimes still.

That was our 'go-to' place for several years, now it's our 'anyplace but'. Boring menu, boring food, overpriced, zero appeal.

Original, they ought to rename it Boil & Roux West. But we stopped going before that happened.

Let’s just keep it real it got dark. Overtaken by the darkness. Lunch is safe but dinner is dark. Much is ruined like everything else in BR by said darkness.

The last time I went was last May and I vowed not to return. The service, specifically some of their policies, is geared to accommodate the proclivities of the lowest denominator of their clientele. It was not enjoyable.

Last Saturday, regrettably. Crossed off the list for sure. Food disappointing and service worse. We were seated outside and by the open windows with the plastic flaps up. It was chilly and the wind was tearing through the tunnel created by the tent out there. We were only ones out there. Asked for heaters to be turned on and were told only if temp is below 64, I immediately looked down at my phone and it was 62, so they then countered with 60 - bizarre. Then asked for them to lower the plastic flaps, again some bullshite excuse. By that time we were marked for death I suppose as food took a long time coming out and was lukewarm. My bad for going there though.

Lol. Wut?

The Chimes’ food hasn’t changed and prices are on par. And it’s still one of the better atmospheres in Baton Rouge.

I agree Chimes East is garbage but I can’t understand the hate for the original.
