Fun fact, Catherine de Medici brought brioche hamburger buns to the new world...

As a matter of fact, I've eaten enough hamburgers to figure out that a couple leaves of lettuce between the burger patty and the bottom bun create the perfect moisture barrier to prevent the soggy deterioration you have experienced.

Honestly, it could be that I was served stale buns. Who knows. What do you think about Carramrod's mayo theory?

Well, I think mayonnaise would be a reasonable mitigation tactic to prevent a soggy bottom.

Mayo is 70-80% fat and fat doesn't easily mix with water. So a generous layer of fat on the bottom bun could repel the aqueous liquids that are released from the burger patty preventing the structural integrity from being jeopardized.

3 cheese mac and cheese between bread / texas toast = grilled cheese sandwich = bun # 1

Burger/kettuce/tomato/etc

same as above, another one of those grilled cheese sandwiches = bun # 2

I get the "Marketplace" brand brioche buns from Wal-Mart Bakery section. Toast them a little and they are really good.

Nope, don’t do that. Look at when someone takes a shot at me, leave the u/d alone.

I like a nice firm bun. I don't like a soft bun that falls apart. I just tried these not too long ago and they are surprisingly good. Buttered and toasted of course.
