What’s on the menu other than the obligatory hot dogs and chili for Halloween?

Usually do chili, but going to grill some stuff this year. It's going to be gorgeous weather.

Smoking some St. Louis ribs and cooking a large gumbo fo the neighbors. Can’t go wrong either way. Cheers

When did hot dogs and chili become obligatory for Halloween? I’ve never heard of hot dogs and chili on Halloween.
I’m having baked bell peppers with Jack o’ Lantern faces carved in them and stuffed with chicken and sausage jambalaya. Meatloaf rats may make an appearance. Definitely a toxic sludge soup.
Hell to the no on hot dogs and chili, though.

My mom always made chili on Halloween but I never realized it was a “thing”.
I’m not sure what to cook yet. I’ve been sick with a cold all week so I’m kinda over soups.

Maybe hot dogs and chili are a south Louisiana thing? We too always would have chili on Halloween with hot dogs in the crockpot

We still do chili with all the nieces and nephews. Bowls of chili though, no hotdogs.

I was going to make chili, but the wife wanted meatballs and cocktail smokies in BBQ sauce, so I did that instead. They were damn good, too!
