Zeroing in on either the wood grilled redfish or the blackened swordfish. I know the scalibut is their specialty but not a huge fan of scallops.

Thinking bbq shrimp for an app and crawfish fritters as a side. Anything else on the menu y'all recommend?

That scalibut is fricking lit. Flakey, thick white fish with those slightly sweet scallops on top. And on a bed of lobster risotto!

My wife usually gets a drum or redfish that has plaintains and a mach choux, or something like that, that comes with it.

I ate there several weeks ago. There are a few pics from there in my restaurant picture thread below your post.

I LOVED the lobster dumplings. I tasted the bbq shrimp and the sauce was really delicious as were the grits. It's a generous app. The sizzling oysters were just okay. Not much flavor. Gumbo was good per another diner. I didn't taste it.

I had the soft shell crawfish and soft shell crab, but it's apparently not on the current menu. I tasted the scalibut and it was very good. the scallops are sliced thin and used for the crispy brown crust, so don't taste the same as prepared seared, for example.

The drum with the chicken cracklin' crust looked beautiful but was bland. I tasted it and it was flavorless and not crispy on top. The other fish dish was in brown butter with crispy capers and something else. I don't see it on the menu, though. It was quite good.

Try the Samoa or salty malty ice cream pie for dessert and enjoy your meal!!!

I loved the lobster dumplings too. I also got 3 downvotes. This is getting to be absurd.

I keep seeing references to bread and biscuits. We never got any bread other than what came with the bbq shrimp. The biscuit we each got when we sat down was nothing to write home about. They were room temp and I only took one bite. Wasn't worth it. I must be missing something!

Geez Paul. Why in the world do you care about votes? Why even look? Every time you whine, you're satisfying your downvoters. Put your big boys on and get over it.

In short...was a great experience. Can't believe its taken me this long to visit Fins. Had reservations for 6:30 this past Friday and was seated promptly. Waitress was very attentive and explained the menu in detail. Started with a Makers old fashioned and the wife a glass of house red. Then the biscuits started flowing. Those biscuits doe...must of eaten 5 or 6 throughout the night.

For an app we went with the BBQ Shrimp with goat cheese grits. Dat sauce

For entrees I got the wild redfish and sweet potato hash with a pineapple glaze and chipotle butter. Wife got the parmesan crusted sheepshead with lump crab and asparagus. Both were on point. These guys know their fish and do it well. Also got a side of the roasted cauliflower (not pictured)

No dessert cause I ate too many biscuits but they did hook us up with these chocolate truffles for our anniversary.

Will definitely be back between the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. Validated parking was a huge plus as well. Bill before tip for 2 drinks, an app, 2 entrees, and a side was a shade above three figures so very reasonable.

Glad it worked out well and happy anniversary!

We must have gotten bad biscuits or something. Everyone raves over them. Ours weren't hot and tasted sort of like a bad Popeye's biscuit. No one at the table ate the biscuit other than tasting it. We were never served more. I'm going to have to go back just to give the biscuits another try!

Thanks Gris

It may have been cause I ate a light lunch that day but I devoured 3 at least before we got our BBQ shrimp.

Would like to go with a group next time to sample other dishes. There were probably 5 other things I wanted to try but knew we wouldn't finish just us two
