Opening day is July 9

quote:

The restaurant is at 308 S. Diamond St. in the Warehouse District.

Gus's, which has been reviewed and praised by national critics and publications, now has more than two dozen locations in 12 states.

This New Orleans location, however, will be company-owned rather than a franchise as many of the locations are. It has been 12 years since Gus’s opened a company-owned property, a spokeswoman said.

Meh. I have higher hopes since it isn’t a franchise, but NOLA already has great fried chicken.

I'm pretty excited, but I'm going to wait for them to settle in.

We have a Gus's in Knoxville. Since having Gus's I can't eat any other fried chicken. Gus's has me spoiled. It is that damn good.

"Gus’s decided to move to New Orleans after being a vendor at the National Fried Chicken Festival in 2017, where it won third place best fried chicken."

Chandlers is good but not as good as Gus's. As for bojangles and popeyes just stop it. Those two places are not even on the same planet as Gus's. I live a quarter mile away from bojangles and a mile from popeyes and never even go there.

Sorry this is not going to do well in the WHD. Maybe on Vets or even St. Charles, Claiborne or Carrollton.

Gus chicken is good. The sides are very underwhelming. As usual, the best restaurants in other places are only average by LA standards.

No doubt the chicken is good—I just don’t see a fried chicken spot making it in a part of town with world class restaurants. Locals are not going to habitually frequent this place because it’s downtown and tourist who visit the city are going to a Besh, Link, Emeril ect restaurant. I lived in the WHD for over a decade and seen places like this not last.

Horrible location.

Would never go downtown for fried chicken.

They couldn’t have picked a less-convenient spot.

I don't know about #1, but I'm looking forward to it. Been to the Memphis location several times.

I really enjoyed it in Memphis but I don’t see myself traveling to the CBD to eat there.

Ate it today and met the owner, real nice lady. Chicken was on par with Austin and Memphis, two other locations I've tried. If you've had it you know what it's bringing.
