You use a clock? Most people I know use beers or glasses of wine.

I'm looking forward to this. Maybe we can have a TD Food Board area.

Jambo and Mike - YGM.

Regarding the time and rules, the tasting starts at Noon but the cooking space will be available at 8am (or earlier if needed). So 4hrs to prepare and cook. Since it is the day after Thanksgiving, I want to leave the option open to just reheat, partially cook, or fully cook the day of.

The entry fee provides rice for all contestants. We will have steamed rice (from next door at the Chimes), but you can use it at your discretion. Hopefully that makes it easier for everyone (and levels the playing field in terms of rice used).

The people's choice award will be based on the public voting, so they will know which gumbo is which. However, the official voting from the special guests will be blind in the sense that they will not know whose gumbo is which. They will be able to see the gumbo (so presentation can come into play), but they will be randomly labeled with letters (thus they will each vote 1-10 for gumbos A-whatever for each category/division).

Let me know if y'all have any other questions.

Mike, let's do exactly that. I'll bring my cooking trailer out there at 745, and anyone that needs electricity, equipment, etc, is welcome to use whatever they like of mine, free of charge.

I think we could easily take home some braggin rights if some of the peeps on here will join in and maybe do a community gumbo?

Whatcha think?

One idea some people are talking about it to take a group and just have some make the seafood and the others make the sausage. Or you can always just try to beat the others at their own game.

Absolutely.... And I think it would be a kick to have as many of the food board out there as possible.

Awesome. Meet us there at 745-8. I'm cooking the day before, but also gonna bring the ingredients for a food board community pot for everyone to mess with during the event as a seperate entry. Any other food board guys or gals want in?
Meet us at the red trailer, morning of.

Oh, and please list any ingredients you'd like me to bring, or feel free to bring your own.

This is awesome. Can't wait to meet everyone, and taste that delicious gumbo. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out from an organizational standpoint (i.e. event details).

Hell yeah Nik. I'm bringing all the necc stuff for a Food Board Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, and don't mind bringing some shrimp, crab, etc. Just lemme know what you guys wanna do.

I'm thinking everyone should cook a seafood Food Board gumbo to enter as a team, and use Jumbo lump, etc, making it the best damn seafood gumbo these judges have ever tasted.

I can definitely help if others are in. I can bring other stuff to eat on too while the gumbo is cooking up.

How much is each contestant cooking? I cooked in several chili contests and all required 10 gallons be cooked.

Yeah its a minimum of 3 gallons, so that everyone can get a taste. But be sure to keep some aside for the official judges.

Consider the parking spot taken care of.
