My brother (the one that invented the oyster knife) was a crabber for a couple of years. We had a simple tank set up that had individual boxes for each buster crab.

We had plans to automate it so you didn't have to check them every couple of hours. There would be a light sensor for each box and when a crab shed, the light would dim because of the second shell blocking more light. That would set off an alarm to let you know to harvest the soft shell.

Nice

I was just flicking them with my finger on their shell.

Now I want a soft shell crab poboy from R&O's.

You only have yourself to blame that you can't scratch that itch at home.

No crabs in my area right now, but yes, a video with you describing your method would be loverly. You can be like that kid at the picnic table.

When they're in season, and a little bigger, I'll do it.

Does anyone have the original pics of the peeling method? I’m really curious now.

Put them on ice or in the fridge for a few hours and get them real cold. Take the top shell off, scrape off the lungs, rinse out the mustard and the ready to go.

I grilled them for my wife this weekend, she is a crab lover. She prefers them grilled now she says, I have about 2 dozen cleaned and ready for tonight.

The neighbor at the camp we spent the week at runs his traps and cleans them all and then boils.

I used to do this when we didn't catch enough in the traps off the dock for a boil but would use foil to hold all the butter and crabs. Not a bad way to eat a few crabs but I wouldn't waste my time with a few dozen like that. Much better boiled

Yeah. The two crab lovers at the camp had a difference of opinion. My wife wants em grilled, the other preferred boiled
