Greek Fest New Orleans

Going for the first time this weekend. I don't know too much about Greek Wine, but it seems like their whites are excellent and cheap.
What are some must try foods, or is it feasible to taste some of everything? We'll be with another couple so maybe everyone ordering a little something works?
TIA

shite. I didn't even search. Just a Page 1 scan. My bad. Sounds fun. I'll go get a belly full and a good buzz.

It'll be absolutely slammed tonight. This coolish weather and no other major events (besides BCS) will draw a big crowd. Plenty of my coworkers and friends have said they are going.
Yep, going to be a mess. Crowds have been huge past couple of years with them running out of a lot of stuff. The weather is going to make it explode again this year. I have heard countless people talking about going. Seems to get worse every year.

You can have it. I grew up in lake vista riding my bike and walking to Greek Fest as a kid. Not a fan of the jazz fest like crowds in such a small area. There is a huge festival every other weekend. Maybe I'm getting crotchety, but it used to be a great neighborhood festival. Now people are parking all the way down Dove and Egret, there is no where to lay around without being right up against other people and there are huge lines where they run out of food.

Don't park illegally, even on the sidewalk, you will get a ticket!

Although it was very crowded last night, the lines moved very quickly and it was easy to maneuver throughout the festival.
With the efficient lines though came mostly pre-assembled food that was sitting in warming bins all day/night. There were a good bit of complaints saying the gyro, goat burger, and especially lamb were very dry. I'm not sure there is a way to solve this issue while keeping the lines efficient but it was unfortunate. All in all, everyone was having a good time though and will continue to go back.
Side note: The $8 entry fee also kept out a lot of the freeloaders you often see at a free festival so it was a good crowd too.

I was there Saturday night. I didn't think the crowds were too bad. It's busy but very easy to find a place to sit down. Food lines moved quickly, too. We have friends that live nearby so we park at their house and meet up with a group.
Wife and I split a calamari. Very good!
We also got a goatburger and a gyro. She ate most of the gyro and I ate most of the goatburger before we switched. The goatburger was good as always.
Wife got the backlava sundae. That's a crowd favorite but not my kind of thing.
Multiple bottles of wine shared by all. A couple of shots of ouzo for the hell of it.
Before leaving, bought a lamb plate and 2 goat patties to take home. The goat pattie on toasted wheat bread with a slice of cheddar and some mustard was really good!
Greek Fest and French Quarter Fest are my top two festivals of the year. Both are all about the food and drinking for me with music an afterthought.

We went Saturday evening. Took an uber. Dropped me off at the gate. Pre-purchased tickets therefore no line. Walked straight to the canal side and put a blanket down. Went and got two bottles of wine in under three minutes. Drank those. Went inside to get two plate dinners while by buddy went to the lamb and feta fries tent. We were both back in under 10mins. Wanted to continue the gluttony and went to get more feta fries and the calamari. Less than 5mins. More wine picked up with no wait. Then it was time to go full fat boy and get a pastry sampler. Waited 2mins. for that. Hung out for a bit, requested uber, and they were picking me up 8mins. later.
Overall, it is a bit crowded but nothing ridiculous. It was hot AF. We went at 17:00, so I'm not sure if that helped or hindered the crowd. I had a hell of a time. I would definitely go back next year.

Per usual the transplants and out-of-towners ruined what used to be a nice, quaint neighborhood festival.

Agree 100% and why I no longer attend Greek Fest.
