That's funny. I live 2 blocks from where he's doing that review. I walk my dog by Graeters and Byrnes Pizza every day. Byrnes is right next to Kincaids Meat Shop and Graeters is on the opposite corner of the intersection.
Byrne's pizza is no bueno. Frozen crust. No char. Its not wood fired. Its grilled on a gas grill. I figured Portnoy would give it a 5. A 7.1? No way. In Portnoy's book, a 7.1 is pretty good...
My house is for sale, if anyone wants to buy it...
Two blocks away from Graeters, Safeway, CVS, 7.1 pizza, a liquor store, a breakfast joint, and soon to be a brewery. You cant tell any of that stuff is there from my house - as I'm on the quietest street in Indy...

I will say this: the ice cream in the Graeter's shoo is much fresher and tastier than the pints you buy in the grocery.

Well sure, but comparatively to another ice cream shop. I grew up with a graeters just outside my neighborhood a block from elementary and middle school, so I guess I am just used to them. But I have never craved graeters compared to others.

I agree with you. I'm not saying Graeters is the best, but it is very good. There are not a lot of ice cream shops that are better. It's in the upper tier, but is it better than Häagen-Dazs or Coldstone? A matter of opinion...
