Wife bought me a little tabletop blackstone griddle this week. 60 something dollars from amazon. It sits perfect on my bar next to my egg. I haven't cooked on it yet. figured i'd come to the F&D board to see if anyone else had one. Was excited to see this thread. I was shocked at how well made and heavy duty the actual flat top itself is. Looking forward to my first cook on it this weekend.

Ordered this when the thread got bumped the other day. Got to do a little assmebly.

Anyone tried to do their own hibachi on this bad boy? I'll post pics but I hope to do it sometime next week for the fam. Going to do all of the hokey hibachi chef jokes to make it more authentic.

It's perfect for a hibachi style meal. The only thing you need to do is to address the drip tray issue before using it. Also, make sure it's perfectly level front to back and side to side. That makes the process work much better.

Just got one for Christmas from the In laws. Its heavy as hell in the box. How big of a bear is putting it together?

One of the problems I've had with mine is the hole in the grease channel will sometimes cause grease to miss the drip tray, mostly while cleaning. Bought this from amazon and has worked well since. drip tray extension

My son helped me put mine together. Most of the weight is the actual griddle.

Is there a mod for a bigger grease catcher? Not so much for the grease but for the water when cleaning it.

Water? I use water but the griddle turns it into steam and it never goes in the catcher.

Looks like I will be ordering the drp tray extension and will have to get some spatulas and a scrapper. After doing research this morning. Looks like the drip tray extension is almost a must have.

Don’t the hibachi places use the really cheap vodka to clean their griddles at the end? It deglazed and then appears to just evaporate when I watch...but I never payed too close attention to it.

During the cleaning process you dump hot water on it. A lot but not nearly all goes to steam.

I don’t. I use water in the ketchup type bottle (same as my oil) and squirt it on the griddle and it all cooks off while I wipe it down.

Any pics of a steak sear on this thing? Kind of intrigued.

They use water in old liquor bottles.

The water is also mixed with lemon juice which helps you to scrape off the griddle.

Gonna post some pics in a few. It’s hard to take a lot doing hibachi. I’ll go ahead and confirm that the drainage extension is a requirement as well as some container above and beyond the one provided.

I was thinking about getting one of the 6 burner camp chef flat tops, but not sure if I will use it often enough to justify the space it takes up.
